Renters Reform Bill
Landlords and Tenants will be interested in learning about the progress of the Rentors Reform Bill which has now been published and will be going before Parliament in June of this year. We have highlighted this already in previous posts, but we now have more information on the content. Headlines include:
- Abolition of the Setion 21 notices and strengthening the Section 8 notice.
- The right for tenants to request a pet in the property which must be considered by the landlord
- Introduce a Housing Ombudsman for the Private Rental Sector
- Introduce a Decent Homes Standard for the sector, similar to the Social Housing Sector
- Database for landlords and private rental properties in England.
South Lakes Lettings will be keeping a close eye on the progress of the Bill through the Parliamentary process and keeping our landlords informed. We will also be positioned to help you through the resultant regulatory changes as they are introduced. We would be happy to offer our thoughts on any part of the Bill and how it could affect landlords and tenants. Just call into our office at 54 Market Street, Dalton. Or drop us a note and we will make a call back.
