EPC Regulations relaxed
We had a look at the Government’s announcement recently to see what effect it has on our landlords. Landlords across the sector have been worried about the plans to prompt them to bring the homes up to an energy efficient standard by 2025, but with little help to achieving this. Fortunately Rishi, prompted by some senior Ministers has realised this is too tough as a target and has SCRAPPED the requirement. We agree with Ben Beadle from the NRLA when he said: It is welcome that landlords will not be required to invest substantial sums of money during a cost of living crisis when many are themselves struggling financially. Ministers need to use the time to develop a full plan that supports the rental market to make the energy efficiency improvements.
Welcome new for landlords who can now work on upgrading homes in a timely way, and not rush to a deadline. Good news, but it may only allow a year to plan improvements as we are entering Election year and the position may change again in 2024.
