Budget November 2025

Budget November 2025

So, Rachel has done it….we have a landlord tax. We were expecting something like this to be honest, but applying National Insurance to rental income for landlords is another hit for the sector, straight off the back of the Renters Reform Act. And perhaps, also, less obvious could be the changes in grants for upgrading landlord homes. SLL are looking into that to see if that will be a factor. We did speak with a couple of landlords earlier today who were committed for the long term, despite the potential for additional taxation. Essentially, there is still a case for longer term rentals, based on growing yields, and reduced interest rates in future bringing down mortgage costs. At SLL, we are acutely aware that a diligent verification at the start of the tenancy will bring benefits later, with longer, sustainable tenancies and greater rewards for our landlords. We are happy to talk through all of the implications if any landlord wishes to contact our Dalton office.
